Guide to Denia

Denia, in the province of Alicante, Spain, is a highly attractive sailing base.  At its port fresh fish and sea-food are sold daily on the key side, and ferries make regular runs to and from Ibiza and Formentera.  Close by is the Marina of Denia, where Al Timon Sailing has its base.

The national park 'El Montgo' towers over the village. In the vicinity of this mountain you are free to explore abundant paths and even climb to its peak or down to the ruins of the old windmills on the Cape of San Antonio.

The main street of Denia is called Marqués de Campo. This pretty street is lined with a tunnel of trees that runs from La Glorieta square all the way to the sea. With numerous outlets, cafes and restaurants you will have no shortage of places to relax, stock up on provisions or go shopping. Other interesting places include the castle with its Roman and Arabic remains, the Gerro Tower (c. XVI), the churches of San Juan (c. XIV) and Santa Paula (c. XV), the convent of Agustinas, the town hall, the house of the hemit Pare Pare, and several caves such as 'La Cueva del Agua'.
